There are a number of reasons why I love porcelain veneers. I thought I would take this Memorial Day to cover some of them.

1. They are super-thin. Not much thicker than a contact lens! This is important because it means that as the cosmetic dentist, I don't have to grind away as much of your natural tooth to achieve a dramatic result.

2. Color Change. Even though veneers are so thin, we can use them to completely change the color of your teeth. Even the most yellow teeth can be masked out and transformed into bright white.

3. They Can Look So Real. In the past, veneers tended to be very monochromatic. You got one color for the whole tooth. But natural teeth don't look like that. Natural teeth tend to be a little darker near the gums and a little transparent near the tip. In between they can have any combination of colors. These color variations are what make veneers look real. Dentists who work with the right dental labs can recreate these color changes in the porcelain. We can usually pick out someone who has poorly-done veneers because the teeth just look fake. White...but fake.

4. Shape Change. With porcelain veneers we can completely change the shape of a tooth. Many people have chipped or worn down their teeth over the years. Others have teeth with gaps between them. Many people's teeth are crowded. All of these issues can be fixed with veneers less than 1.o mm thick!

5. Confidence! I can't tell you how many of our patients come back after having their veneers done and tell me that they catch themselves smiling so much more. Having a smile you can be proud of does wonders for your self-confidence. I have had patients claim that their new smile has helped them get raises at work, ask out girls they never would have before, and live a happier, more fulfilling life. It is amazing!

So these are a couple of reasons why I love porcelain veneers and smile makeovers. They can look so real and they can change your life. This is the truly rewarding part of my job. When people ask how I can look in people's mouths all day, I tell them that its because later I get to see people's smiles all day.

P.S. - I always do completely free smile analysis and consultations. Even if you just have little details about your teeth that you don't like, come see me. Sometimes we can improve a smile drastically without major dental procedures.

I've been saving up some money for porcelain veneers! I figured now's the time to have a more beautiful smile. Here in Florida where I currently live, I just know where to go for the right veneers and the right dentist: Sarasota!

Wait can cosmetic dentists make like teeth caps that go on top of your teeth to make them look whiter and like different teeth? That is crazy awesome. That I so cool and I think that this is an amazing idea. They just slid over your teeth and make you have a new smile.

I agree 100%! I got porcelain veneers on my front two teeth just a few months ago, and the difference in my self-confidence is stunning. I hadn't even realized that I was shy about smiling and laughing until I had a white, non-chipped smile to show off. I love them and would recommend them to anyone. The money is worth the improved quality of life.

I would love to see a cosmetic dentist to do some work on my teeth. I think that it would change my whole smile. I know that I want to have my teeth whitened and also see if they can be shaped a little bit.

How much does it cost to get porcelain veneer put on? When I was younger I got into a bicycle accident and ended up chipping some of my front teeth because of it. While my teeth look fairly normal, my front teeth are ground down in comparison with my other teeth and I want the to look normal. I did have braces after the accident. If I got normal sized veneers, would it affect that work? http://www.qualitydentalcareutah.com

That is a huge difference in color. What are the differences between veneers and just straight whitening? These teeth look almost as white as any other tooth that have been bleached. I will have to look into the differences because I really want to get whiter teeth. http://www.bronxonedaydenture.com/index.html

It is amazing to see how far cosmetic dentistry has come, let alone dentistry itself. To see how thin veneers can be is amazing because it changes your smile so much. Thank you for the awesome visual in this post. http://www.accentdentalnwi.com/cosmetic-dentistry/

This was such a fun article to read, and I particularly liked seeing the celebrities and their dental fixtures! Maybe I should get some dental implants like them! Then I'd have some teeth to show off for sure.

My brother is going to get some porcelain veneers soon. He has always had what I consider to be brittle teeth. It got him really excited to think what veneers could do for him.

I had no idea that veneers were so thin! My mom is thinking about getting some right now. One of her biggest concerns was that it would make her speech sound different. It's good to know now that she won't have to worry about that. I think veneers might be a good option for her. http://www.dentistcapemaycourthousenj.com/Cosmetic_Dentistry_Cape_May_Court_House_NJ.html

Wow! I didn't realize how light and thin porcelain veneers were. I know that my cousin has veneers, because she chipped her tooth when she was younger. She went to a cosmetic dentist, and they were able to put it in for her. It doesn't even look like she has a tooth that's half veneer. http://www.owocdentalgroup.com

Porcelain veneers are small chips that are used to give a facelift to teeth that have lost their natural beauty. Such veneers are being used to cover discoloured teeth. This procedure can give your teeth a lasting shine.

It's actually really impressive just how big of a difference veneers can make for your smile. I've been thinking about getting some for a little while now, but I keep putting it off. At the very least, I should find a dentist around here that I can talk to about getting some.

There are so many benefits to cosmetic dentistry. How long do veneers usually last because they really are a quick fix for white teeth. I would like to see if I could get them so I can have a nice white smile again. http://www.engineeringdesignersmiles.com/cosmetic_dentistry.html

I had no idea that porcelain veneers were so thin, that is so amazing! They look so real, it's amazing. It's cool that they not only whiten your teeth, but are able to change the shape. For the last little while, I have been wanting to do something to make my teeth whiter.
